Larry, anecdotally, whether career professionals or not, we have not actually noted more and more brides keeping their maiden names after marriage. If that trend is being seen, it may be a geographical phenomena rather than a nationwide trend. In fact, lately, I have been struck by how many women are legally changing their last names to that of their husbands. For the woman who is a Doctor, Lawyer, CPA, Contractor, or other state licensed professional, the tendency is to keep the maiden name in the career (through an AKA), but to legally assume the husband's last name. This is especially true if the bride has established a practice or professional reputation under her maiden name. Now, it is not that we don't see a bride keep her legal last name prior to marriage, but it seems that our name change experts are coming across a lot more "assumption" of a husband's last name.
